Sacred Sweat Lodge

We run community sweat lodges at YogaNature in Kent – come along and join in.

A sweat lodge is a purification process that has been use by indigenous cultures around the world for thousands of years. The process involves heating stones to create heat in a small space so that the body cleans itself by sweating, similar to a sauna.

The most commonly known sweats are from the Native American traditions but there are as many ways of running sweat lodges as there are cultures.  As non-indigenous practitioners we incorporate aspects of various traditions.

In our community sweat lodges singing, drumming, chanting, prayers and silence all weave together to help us experience the magic and wonder of contacting Mother Earth and connect to our own individual concept of Spirit. Each sweat is a sacred and unique experience as we go inward to meet different aspects of our selves.

We have assisted at many Initiation sweats, easing the fears of “first time sweaters”.  Your willingness to be present to yourself and the loving understanding of the Lodge Keeper enables this profound learning experience.

Sacred sweat lodgeWe facilitate different types of sweats: gentle introductions,  initiation sweats, full moon sweats, blue moon sweats, journey sweats and turns on the wheel sweats. All sweats will be either female only, male only or open group.

The site where our lodge is based is very secluded, very protected, very quiet and very magical, based at YogaNature in Wootton, Kent.

Our next community sweat lodge will be running on Sunday 15th April as part of our next workshop.  If you just want to attend the sweat lodge we ask for a £35 contribution to the wood and materials.

Information on what to bring and preparation will be provided here.

Please note that it is not advisable for those with certain medical conditions to take part in a sweat, so if you have any questions, medical concerns or want to discuss any aspect of the sweat then do please get in contact.
